50 Years

are you a home improvement star?

Since opening their doors in 1969, B&Q has been a hub of home improvement for DIY-ers across the UK.

A lot has changed since the Sixties and B&Q want us to relish in all things new by making transforming our homes even easier, more affordable and sustainable.

And what better way to celebrate 50 years of makeovers than by searching for Britain's Home Improver of the Year?

Whether you've proudly renovated your first home or given your rented flat an opulent overhaul, we want to see your handiwork!

We're looking for budding home improvers to participate by showing us an example of a home improvement project which previously worked on and if selected, you could be invited to London to participate in a final stage demonstration where you will bring to life your idea in a room set environment.

the final stage will be judged by a team of interior experts:

  • Ian McColgan – B&Q Category Director (Surface & Décor)
  • DMG homes & interiors editor
  • Tom Dyckhoff - historian, architecture and design enthusiast, writer and broadcaster

what the next home improver of the year needs to do...

Tell us about a previous home interior project that you've worked on as well what you would like to do for your next home improvement project.

Please be sure to include:

  1. Photo(s) of a room which you previously transformed as well as a short description of the project.
  2. A separate explanation outlining what you would like to achieve should you make it through to the final round as well as details of your home improvement skillset.
  3. Please let us know what dates you may be available in London to participate in the final stage should you be successful in your application.
